Christmas Day and Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve is December 24. Some families exchange gifts or share their main meal that evening; others gather on December 25. A countdown to Christmas Day cannot also be a countdown to every family's dinner or service. If your gathering has a particular start time, use a personal countdown for that appointment.
One holiday name, different calendars
Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus in Christian traditions and is also observed through secular family customs. This guide specifically follows December 25. Some churches use a different calendar, and Armenian Christmas is commonly observed on January 6. Selecting another time zone does not switch this page to a different religious tradition.
